THE RETIRED footballer David Beckham is set to go on trial after allegedly exceeding the speed limit earlier this year.
According to the listing at Lavender Hill Court in London, the former Manchester United midfielder is suspected of travelling at 59mph in a 40mph zone, on the A40 near Paddington on January 23 this year.
It’s reported that Beckham was driving one of his recent vehicle acquisitions: a luxurious Bentley Bentayga SUV.
The hearing this week was only administrative one, according to The Times, with Beckham said to have pleaded not guilty.
A further case management hearing for the trial is set to take place next week, on September 4.

We weren’t surprised to see David Beckham at today’s royal wedding (if any non-royal Brit comes close to an honorary prince, it’s Becks) and we were less surprised to see him turn up looking sharp. After all, Beckham is the menswear god who inspired a generation of guys to want to wear slim-fit suits or try wavy off-the-runway designer threads or treat their hair like a seasonal accessory (bleach it, grow it out, braid it, buzz it all off). What we didn’t expect to see was Beckham use the globally-watched nuptials as an opportunity to make a massive menswear moment, which he did by being the first man to step out in Dior Homme designed by Kim Jones.
