Micro Photography

This is a special genre of photography, wherein the images are clicked with the help of a microscope. Micro photography plays an important role in medical research for understanding the physical traits and features of organisms that are too small to be seen by naked eye,More info:designgrapher

To understand the difference between macro, micro, and close-up photography, the most important thing to understand is magnification ratio. Magnification ratio is just a fancy way of gauging how big your subject is in relation to how big it appears in your camera’s sensor. (The camera sensor determines how big a photo renders and can affect everything from how large you can scale your photo to how big it appears in your viewfinder.)True macro photography is anything that has a magnification ratio of at least 1:1 – meaning that if the coin you’re shooting in real life is two centimeters in diameter, it will look exactly that big to your camera’s sensor. Macro photography can also make the image appear several times bigger than it actually is in real life.

If you’re looking for something weird under the microscope, you can’t get much weirder than the squiggly, spiky-haired phytoplankton called Chaetoceros debilis — and in this year’s Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, weird wins.

But Dutch artist-photographer Wim van Egmond’s picture of C. debilis isn’t merely weird. Under Van Egmond’s microscope, the critter’s silica-covered cells shine like gold. Its spines stand out starkly against a marine blue background. The humble diatom becomes a thing of beauty. And that’s exactly what Van Egmond, curator of the Micropolitan Museum, was going for.
