We love coming back to Santorini and discovering new places to stay. The small is always in fashion here, as the island has no impersonal big hotels or mega-resorts. But there is a large number of hotels, with new ones popping up every year, and old ones expanding and continuously improving. So which boutique hotel to book? First rule: for the best experience, book on the rim of the Caldera.

Best known for: It’s breathtaking views of the Caldera –the volcanic crater of which this city is the center. Its unparalleled sunsets and its beaches with pink or black sand, depending on which side of the island you’re on.  Rent a car (or a scooter for the more adventurous) and explore the island, going up and down the cliffs, enjoying the perfect beauty of the white Greek towns.

#2     Information about Santorini,More info:santorini-island

Santorini is one of the southernmost islands of the Cyclades group of islands, along with Anafi. The island is mostly known for its volcano, the biggest eruption of which took place 3,600 years ago, destroying parts of the island and causing a tsunami that obliterated the Minoan civilization of Crete. Before this eruption, the island was called Stroggyli, due to its circular shape, but the eruption caused the creation of two more separate islands, Thirasia and Aspronisi. These two islands, along with Santorini, form a circle in the middle of which is the caldera. After another volcanic eruption that occurred in the 17th century, two more small islands were formed in the caldera, Nea Kameni and Palaia Kameni.
