Yogurtyoghurt or yoghourt  is a food produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. The bacteria used to make yogurt are known as yogurt cultures. The fermentation of lactose by these bacteria produces lactic acid, which acts on milk protein to give yogurt its texture and characteristic tart flavor.Cow’s milk is commonly available worldwide and, as such, is the milk most commonly used to make yogurt. Milk from water buffalo, goats, ewes, mares, camels, and yaks is also used to produce yogurt where available locally. The milk used may be homogenized or not, even pasteurized or raw. Each type of milk produces substantially different results,More info:wiki

Yogurt used to be pretty straightforward. It came in small, simple containers, with a swirl of fruit on the bottom if you were lucky. Not anymore. Today there’s Greek yogurt, shakes, and tasty-looking cups with sprinkles and crushed cookies. Yogurt is blended into smoothies and squirted into portable tubes and pouches. Over in the ice cream aisle, there are even more options, with a variety of frozen yogurt products in tubs and handheld popsicles.

This gives you lots of choices but might also leave you wondering which one to pick. At the root of the dilemma is this question: is yogurt a health food or a dessert? The truth is, today’s yogurt can be either, depending on the type you choose. This means you’ve got to do a little detective work to figure it out.

Before we get into details about how to sort the good yogurt from the bad, let’s talk a little bit about why you want to eat yogurt in the first place.

One of our favorite summertime tricks is to make a batch of whipped Greek yogurt, which is exactly what it sounds like—a cross between airy whipped cream and dense yogurt. We love it with the caramel notes of golden syrup, but it works with honey, maple syrup, or molasses as well. Chill and serve with fresh fruit as a parfait, or use as a topping for pound cake, pie, or French toast.

Bright and tangy homemade frozen yogurt swirled with a mouth-puckering tart cherry jam for a combination that is utter perfection.

Frozen yogurt is the perfect way to satisfy that ice cream craving without the guilt. But making it at home isn’t as simple as throwing some yogurt in the freezer. I daresay I’ve cracked the code to homemade frozen yogurt that’s creamy, not icy, made from whole milk yogurt, sweetened to perfection and swirled (or drizzled!) with a tart cherry jam.

As a food blogger I’m often faced with the dilemma of trying to decide dishes are worthy of posting for my readers. Sometimes I decided that a recipe is too complicated, or just not interesting or unique enough.  Then there are the dishes that are so simple, I’m certain that everyone else is already making and eating them.  This was one of those dishes.  But last month, at three cooking classes in a row, participants asked for suggestions for healthy breakfasts.  It turns out that a lot of them have just been feeding their kids the cheapest cereals they could find, but now they’re realizing that starting the day off with a sugar rush may not be a wise choice.  We talked a lot about various breakfast options, but the one they got most excited about was the simple dish I eat almost every morning, Greek yogurt with honey and fruit. My mom really deserves the credit for this breakfast idea in my life.  I remember eating a lot of yogurt as a kid, I especially loved the ones with the sugary sweet fruit syrup that you stirred into the yogurt.  My mom had me try all sorts of different brands and varieties, but I think there was something about that mixing process that made me feel like I was cooking, so I always wanted the unhealthy yogurt option.
